Alex Schmelkin, co-founder and president of Alexander Interactive (Ai), has been helping companies build their business online since 1994.
Today, Alex oversees agency operations and drives the strategic direction of Ai. As a digital entrepreneur, he has 15 years of expertise in digital strategy, architecting and designing large enterprise and e-commerce systems.
Alex’s interactive strategies, designs, and implementations have produced measurable business results for his e-commerce clients, ranging from double-digit conversion rate increases to 100 percent year-over-year revenue growth. He has created successful online initiatives for a wide variety of influential global brands, Including Citigroup, Lowe's, Pepperidge Farm, Kaplan, Continental Airlines, Schwinn, FragranceNet.com and DonorsChoose.org.
Under his direction, Ai has grown from a small web business to a full-service interactive agency. The team has secured prestigious industry awards, including the Amazon.com Nonprofit Innovation Award, and has launched a successful mentoring program that connects teenagers with technology and online business. An Internet industry veteran, Alex has been quoted in the New York Times, Inc. Magazine, Internet Retailer, and many other national business and trade publications. He is a speaker at technology conferences and trade shows including Internet Retailer’s Conference & Expo and the Web Design & Usability Show.
Before founding Ai, Alex co-founded New York-based Davanita Design. After it grew to 20 people from only 3, Davanita was acquired by Avatar Technology, where Alex served as president and CEO of the New York division.
Alex holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University. He enjoys time with family, Yankee games, billiards and magic. Long ago, he was known as the "Yiddish Magician," but those days are gone.
Alex lives in New York, N.Y. with his wife and three kids.
