DonorsChoose.org Places 2nd in the American Express Members Project
Project received over 22,000 votes
They did it! DonorsChoose, the charity which grew out of a Bronx classroom just seven years ago, finished as the1st runner up behind UNICEF in the American Express Members Project. Out of 7,000 non-profit initiatives, and four rounds of voting, the DonorsChoose entry, "Teachers Ask. You Choose. Students Learn." was selected by over 22,000 people as the winning idea in the final round of voting.
As a finalist, DonorsChoose will receive a recognition award of $100,000 from American Express, all of which will go to funding projects on their website!
Alexander Interactive would like to congratulate its friends at DonorsChoose.org for the spectacular initiative and thank everyone who voted for their cause. Participant advocacy over the last few weeks means that many students will get resources they need to learn. The public awareness everyone helped them achieve will inspire thousands more "citizen philanthropists" to connect to classrooms in need.
DonorsChoose is dedicated to addressing the scarcity and inequitable distribution of learning materials and experiences in our public schools. Since 2000, DonorsChoose has grown from an experiment at a Bronx public school to a thriving organization serving 3,481 public schools. Donorschoose envisions a nation where students in every community have the resources they need to learn. To learn more about DonorsChoose, please visit www.donorschoose.org.
