Inspiration in Action

Action Envelope is a leading supplier of envelopes that lets consumers customize their products with photos, logos, or any image they can upload to the web. They came to us because they’d been having problems with their limited Yahoo! store platform.

  • 108% increase in net sales
  • 49% increase in total orders
  • 36% increase in average order

To keep up with their expanding business, Action Envelope needed something that would let them easily process envelopes in bulk, and have simple tools for user to customize the design of the items they were ordering.

Inspired by Action Envelope’s mission to sell envelopes that inspire action, we completely redesigned the site to include several new features and improvements that would increase website conversion rates, including:

  • Clean browse and search interfaces cuts down the time to find an envelope
  • Online designer allows a customer to create a printed envelope in 2 easy steps
  • "Re–Order" center allows customers to re–order a set of customized envelopes from a previous order
  • New loyalty program rewards frequent customers with online discounts
  • "File Upload Center" allows customers to easily add graphics and logos to printed envelopes

In addition to doubling the conversion rate, the new site increased the average order by 36%, doubled the orders of printed envelopes, and grew repeat customers, which now make up a third of monthly sales due to loyalty programs and easy re–ordering.

The success of the redesign was so great, in fact, that Action Envelope brought us back to build a new back–end print production management system to handle the increased business. The new system:

  • Created transparency throughout the entire order and fulfillment process
  • Enabled end to end order tracking, from the point of purchase, through customer approval, pre–production, press assignments, printing, boxing and shipping
  • Enables task assignment across new presses as they are purchased

These improvements resulted in a shorter overall order processing and fulfillment time, and most importantly, the growth of their business.
